I reported this as a probable bug back in October (see Bug report 2112 http://dev.tikiwiki.org/tiki-view_tracker_item.php?trackerId=5&itemId=2112) since it does not seem to be theme specific as I have observed the behaviour across all the sites that I manage.

Not sure if this forum could address the issue but it would be nice to identify a fix/patch since (unfortunately ) IE7 is still the most popular browser. I've not checked the new IE8 yet so don't know if that works.
